Beginning Acting
Learn to act through the traditional approach to the Meisner Technique. Develop listening and observation skills. Learn to express your truth in the moment. Improvisation and basic scene study. When a foundation in the Meisner Technique is established, the Michael Chekhov Technique is introduced, including archetypal gestures, atmospheres, radiating and receiving, centers, qualities, and more. Memorization drills. An audit is required.
Advanced Acting
Strengthen and deepen your ability to live truthfully in the moment through the Chicago-style approach to the Meisner Technique, and break through any blocks that are holding you back from realizing your full artistic potential. Learn to use the Michael Chekhov Technique to create characters, develop psychological gestures, physicalize objectives, prepare emotionally, and more. Put the Meisner and Chekhov Techniques together, and learn a unique and reliable approach to acting in the context of improvisation, scene study, cold reading, auditioning, on-camera, and script analysis. Advanced memorization drills and the practical side of show business. For actors with prior performance experience and/or acting training. An audit is required.
Professional Program
A more rigorous version of the Advanced Class for working professionals, with an emphasis on keeping your instrument sharp, developing your career, and finding your own vision and passion as an artist. You are required to be working on material for professional and/or public presentation at all times, and are accountable to the group for career-oriented tasks you commit to each week. By audition or invitation only.
Why a Free Audit?
Auditing means that before you join a class, you must come and fully participate in that class just like a regular student (for free). That gives you a chance to see if what Chris teaches is a good fit for your current acting goals, and it gives him a chance to watch you work. At the Acting Studio, we don't think it's ethical to charge an actor a full month's tuition to just to find out if a teacher or class is right for them. Fees
Classes are ongoing and meet once a week. Tuition is $150/month (four classes), and students can pick their own start date. For more information, please contact the Studio.
